Meet the Maker

Hello everyone!

My name is Kristin Matz. I am a homemaking/slow-living, homeschooling momma, military spouse (currently stationed at Fort Moore, Georgia but moving to Missoula, Montana this summer), & married to my high school sweetheart. I am a boy mom of three with one on the way this July + two angel babies. We also have an Alaskan Husky named Huck (short for Huckleberry).

I am a Montana native and come from a very pioneer-like family. I grew up with all our veggies/fruits/potatoes coming straight from our garden & we canned them every year, always had homemade bread on the counter, medicine was naturally derived (with a healthy understanding of knowing when to utilize modern medicine when needed), and we had local beef from my grandparents ranch.

Hunting was also a huge part of my childhood (bow-hunter certified here at the age of 12!) and is still a big part of my family today.

Anyhow, everything was made from scratch in my childhood home. My parents are the one who cultivated & normalized my passion for homemaker, slow momma living. Because to me, it’s our way of life.

How did I start this business?

I started making milk baths as gifts (yay for handmade gifts!) then it turned into a business while my husband was deployed back in 2018.

Where has your family been stationed at?

We have lived in Fort Bragg (Liberty) in North Carolina, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska, Fort Benning (Moore) in Georgia, and next is Missoula, Montana as my husband will be attending the University of Montana for their “Green to Gold” (going from enlisted to officer) program with a degree in Fish & Wildlife Management.

Where do I (my family) plan on going from here?

My goal is to own a tea & coffee shop that’s kid-friendly & FULL of locally-made products. Basically a cozy hangout that’s kid-friendly.

When my kiddos get older, I plan on becoming a Lactation Consultant with a specialty in Exclusive Pumping. I’ve exclusively pumped with all my children, however with my third child I exclusively pumped for well over 1 year and was able to donate over 6,000 ounces of milk to local hospitals. I ended up helping 15 sick & premature infants! It is a deep passion of mine & I find that exclusive pumping doesn't get the recognition, love, & understanding it deserves. Pumping is breastfeeding too!

We aim to retire in Palmer, Alaska as Alaska is our families “forever home”.
